“The Vostok military group’s units continued to penetrate into the depths of the enemy defense and liberated the town of Staromaiorske of the Donetsk People’s Republic,” Russian military authorities noted in their daily war report.

This military group caused 140 casualties to members of four brigades of the Ukrainian Army in the vicinity of Velika Novoselka, Vodiane, Neskuchne, Urozhaine and Vugledar.

The Russian command also reported progress in sectors of the Kharkiv and Donetsk fronts, where Russian forces had “improved their tactical positions” overcoming Ukrainian attempts to stop the Russian offensive.

Earlier on Friday, President Vladimir Putin assured his country’s military forces that he did not intend to accelerate the pace of the current offensive on different parts of the front.

The goal of the offensive in Kharkiv is to create a security zone to reduce Ukrainian artillery attacks on Russian border regions, he said.

On Sunday, air defense systems shot down four drones over the Bryansk region and three drones over the Belgorod region.

Rosaviatsia, the Russian agency for civil aviation, has ordered the suspension of operations at the airport in Kazan, the capital of the Russian republic of Tatarstan, without explaining the reasons for the measure.

Although Tatarstan is located about 800 kilometers from the closest point of the Ukrainian border, its territory has been hit on several occasions by drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
